Blackhawks Corey Crawford ‘progressing well,’ will return to ice this weekend

Corey Crawford is expected to return to the ice this weekend after a lengthy hiatus, Joel Quenneville said on the “Coach Q Show” on WGN Radio, as noted by Scott Powers of The Athletic Chicago. Quenneville said of Crawford, “he’s progressed really well here,” and “we expect him on the ice this weekend and go from there.”

The 31-year-old Crawford has not played since a 5-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on March 14 and has been apparently dealing with a head injury, as reported by Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times earlier this week. Until the injury, Crawford had been enjoying a very good season with a save percentage of .926 and was allowing just 2.32 goals a game on average.

An imminent return to the ice could bode well for the veteran as the Blackhawks gear up for the playoffs with a little under two weeks to go in the regular season.
