This is a shocker: Denis Savard has been fired as head coach of the Blackhawks and has been replaced by Joel Quenneville, as being reported by the official Hawks’ site. There were definitely some things that Savard was doing that I disagreed with, but I really didn’t think he would be fired just 4 games into the season, and the day after a victory. Apparently, there is going to be a press conference today at 4:30 PM to announce the news.
So, we know Quenneville has had a lot of success as a head coach in the NHL, which already has me thinking this is a good move, as Savard was inexperienced from the get-go and probably shouldn’t have been made into a coach yet anyways. We will probably see some roster moves made in the next few days — I wonder if Cam Barker is coming back up now? As well as potential other moves, like the trading of Khabibulin if that is still in the works.
