Dylan Sikura’s breakout performance at Northeastern University keeps trucking on. In a close game against the University of Vermont on Sunday, Sikura scored an absolutely gorgeous goal using a double-hesitation move that wouldn’t be out of place in the NHL.

The goaltender makes an aggressive move away from his net to try to cut off Sikura’s angle, but he makes a patient play with the puck and fires a tough angled shot under the far side bar. It was his second goal of the season.
Sikura, a sixth-round pick (No. 178 overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, has been a late bloomer. He struggled as a freshman at Northeastern with just seven points in 25 games, then started making progress with 28 points in 39 games as a sophomore. Just seven games into his junior season, he already has 11 points.
Coming off a good showing at the Hawks’ prospect camp, we’re seeing signs that Sikura has NHL potential. He didn’t look the part a couple years ago after the Hawks took a sixth-round flier on him, but he’s still just 21 years old. With goals like this, he’s on his way to getting an entry-level contract offer from Chicago in the spring.
