Four veteran invites included on Blackhawks 2017 Training Camp roster

The Chicago Blackhawks will open their 2017 training camp on Friday and, on Monday morning, they released the full roster of players who will be auditioning for roster spots later this month.

Fifty-seven names are on the roster, including a few surprises. Along with defenseman Cody Franson, who signed a professional tryout contract with the Hawks last week, three other veterans have been added to the training camp roster on similar tryout deals: forwards Drew Miller and John Mitchell and defenseman Mark Stuart.

Miller, 33, spent the last eight seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, appearing in 55 games while scoring five goals and two assists in the 2016-17 season. Stuart, 33, comes to Chicago after spending his last six seasons with the Winnipeg Jets. A veteran of 13 seasons, Stuart had two goals and two assists while averaging 12:27 of ice time in his 42 games with the 2016-17 Jets. Mitchell, 32, was in Colorado last year for his fifth season with the Avalanche, playing in 65 games with three points and four assists.
