Gustav Forsling scores 1st NHL goal vs. Canadiens
The Blackhawks defenseman needed 14 games to get on the scoreboard in his debut season.
Gustav Forsling has a pretty sweet shot, and now he’s finally used it to score an NHL goal. The rookie defenseman recorded his first career goal with the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period of their game against the Canadiens on Sunday night.

Forsling, 20, has had some ups and downs during his first season in North America. The Swedish defenseman wasn’t expected to make the leap to the NHL until next season, but was so good in training camp and preseason that the Hawks decided to make room.
There have been some learning experiences, as a 43 percent even strength Corsi shows, but Forsling also has some real skills. One of them is a booming shot despite his small frame, which we’ve seen at times on the power play and saw again on his first career goal. While he had not gotten a shot to go in before Sunday, Forsling has shown you need to keep an eye on him back there.
