Happy New Year!

As I look back on the year that was 2013, both as a hockey writer and a Blackhawks fan I have to say this was the most satisfying year of them all.  It took awhile for my first season at Second City Hockey to get going but when it did, holy crap was it fun!  I grew a lot as a writer from the first game in Los Angeles to the game last night against the same Kings.  My 2013 included being in the Chicago Tribune, interviewing Jeremy Roenick & Murray Bannerman and making some connections with some great people within the sport.  My biggest thrill came when I was granted full press credentials for the Stanley Cup Final.  I was more nervous and excited to talk to the broadcasters and writers who have grown up listening to and reading than I was talking to anyone on the Blackhawks or Bruins.  I learned so much on how to cover the game of hockey and it made me want to do this full time more than ever.  I look forward to covering many more Stanley Cup Finals down the road.

I want to wish all of you, the readers and the commentators, a very happy and healthy 2014.  Without all of you this site doesn’t exist and I am truly grateful. So here’s a toast and a wish for all of us to have a great year and another parade in June!
