Watch: Jonathan Toews scores hat trick in Blackhawks’ win over Capitals

Jonathan Toews helped carry the Blackhawks against the Capitals on Sunday afternoon at the United Center.

The Blackhawks captain scored his seventh career hat trick and second of the season in Chicago’s 8-5 win over the reigning Stanley Cup champions. He also had two assists for his fourth five-point game in his career.

Toews was gifted his first goal after Dmitry Orlov swatted the puck into the net with his left hand.

Driving to the net on a 2-on-1 with Patrick Kane, Toews flipped a shot into the net passed Pheonix Copley to make it 6-3.

Toews completed the hat trick when he danced around Orlov and slipped the puck through Copley’s legs.

Toews was paired with wingers Drake Caggiula and Kane for the first time this season as Chicago snapped its five-game losing streak with the win over the Capitals. Kane also had a five-point game, with two goals and three assists.
