Jonathan Toews selling his Lincoln Park mansion

Ah, to be a professional athlete. No, scratch that – to be an extremely good professional athlete making tens of millions of dollars ($13.8 million this year, to be specific), like Jonathan Toews.

And to get to live in Chicago on top of that? You know he’s living the high life.

Via the Chicago Tribune, almost two years ago Toews bought a mansion in Lincoln Park for $3.525 million. (We think it might be this one.) Over that time, he’s not only lived in it, but has also upgraded it, and now has it back on the market for $3.899 million. Toews isn’t just a fantastic hockey player: he’s also a mansion flipper!

Or maybe it just seemed like a good idea at the time, but not so much now. Via the Tribune and his listing agent, Kai Schirmacher:

“Jonathan is downsizing. He’s staying in the city, but he doesn’t need this much square footage, so that’s why (he’s) selling.”

The mansion is listed as a five-bedroom, 6,400-square-foot property with 11-foot ceilings, a penthouse and garage-top deck, outdoor kitchen, and elevator, among other things. Toews may have genuinely realized he simply didn’t need that much space, not to mention he spends a lot of time on the road – hence, you can now buy his old house.

You know, if you’ve got about $4 million lying around.
