Morning Bag Skate: 7-8-19

There was no news on the Blackhawks’ front Sunday.

Elsewhere in Chicago sports, the United States women’s national soccer team (Red Stars’ Morgan Brian, Tierna Davidson, Julie Ertz and Alyssa Naeher) defeated the Netherlands 2-0 to win their second-straight World Cup title. It’s the first World Cup title for Davidson, while Brian, Ertz and Naeher were all 2015 Cup team members. The USMNT (Fire midfielder Djordje Mihailovic) fell 1-0 to Mexico in the the Gold Cup final at Solider Field.

Jantel Lavendar and Kahleah Copper led the Sky past the Wings 78-66 to snap a five-game skid. Eloy Jimenez and Jose Abreau powered the White Sox by the Cubs 3-1 to salvage a split.
