Morning Bag Skate: June 1 draft signing deadline

The deadline for NHL teams to sign certain prospects is June 1. Teams hold rights to the players they’ve drafted from the Canadian Hockey League for two years after the draft, while teams have four years to sign a player outside of North America. NCAA players can be signed up to 30 days after they finish school.

For the Blackhawks that means they’ll have to sign goaltender Ivan Nalimov or they’ll lose his rights.

Pittsburgh will look to take a 2-0 lead when they host the San Jose Sharks for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday.
