Morning Bag Skate: Chicago Steel win USHL’s Clark Cup

Tyler Gratton, a Penn State commit, scored 11:30 into overtime to give Chicago a 2-1 win over the Sioux City Musketeers for the Steel’s first ever Clark Cup as the USHL’s champions. It’s the first championship in the Steel’s 17-year history.

Steel forward Eduards Tralmaks was named MVP of the Clark Cup Playoffs, recording 10 goals in Chicago’s 14 postseason games, including the tying goal in Game 5.

In Hawks prospect news, Matthew Highmore and Nathan Noel helped Saint John to a 7-0 win Tuesday over Seattle to advance to Friday’s Memorial Cup semifinal. Highmore had two assists and Noel had one for the Sea Dogs in their first win of the tournament.

Alex DeBrincat and the Erie Otters face off against Graham Knott and the Windsor Spitfires in a game of unbeatens Wednesday in the final game in round robin play. Both teams are 2-0 in the tournament.
