The Vegas Golden Knights selected Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk in the expansion draft during the NHL Awards on Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Chicago announced Wednesday that forward Marian Hossa will miss next season due to a skin disorder. The news came early in the day before the Hawks also announced the two-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins will play in Chicago’s home opener Oct. 5.
