Blackhawks have 14 national TV games during 2019-20 season

The Blackhawks will be one of the most popular NHL team on national television for the 2019-20 season with 14 games on NBC Sports Network, the network announced Tuesday. It’s a drop from the past two seasons when Chicago led the league in national appearances with 19 last season and 17 in 2017-18.

The Flyers have a league-high 20 national games for the upcoming season ahead of the Penguins (16), Blues (15) Rangers and Blackhawks (14). The Avalanche, Bruins, Capitals, Predators and Wild (12) and Lightning (11) also have double-digit appearances.

The Senators are the lone team not on the schedule.

St. Louis will start the coverage with a “Wednesday Night Hockey” doubleheader Oct. 2 against the Capitals in a game against the past two Stanley Cup champions. The second game is a playoff rematch between the Golden Knights and Sharks.

The Blackhawks will have six of their 14 national games on NBCSN’s “Wednesday Night Hockey” with a visit to Vegas (Nov. 13) and home games against the Avalanche (Dec. 18), Bruins (Feb. 5), Rangers (Feb. 19), Sharks (March 11) and Penguins (March 25). Chicago’s Nov. 5 game in San Jose and Jan. 9 game against Nashville will be non-exclusive nationally televised contests.

The remaining 68 regular-season games on Chicago’s schedule will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Chicago. The Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox signed a multi-year deal with the network last winter to make it the exclusive home to all non-nationally televised games.
