Blackhawks are NHL’s 4th-most valuable franchise, per Forbes

The Chicago Blackhawks remain one of the NHL’s most valuable franchises with an estimated worth of $1.05 billion, according to Forbes’ latest rankings released Wednesday.

Only three teams — the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens — have higher estimated values than the Blackhawks. This isn’t surprising given they’re all Original Six teams and play in some of the biggest markets in North America.

The Rangers are the NHL’s most valuable team with an estimated worth of $1.55 billion. The Maple Leafs ($1.45 billion) and Canadiens ($1.3 billion) are the only other teams to top the $1 billion mark. The Boston Bruins come up just short at $925 million.

The Los Angeles Kings ($810M), Philadelphia Flyers ($800M), Detroit Red Wings ($775M), Vancouver ($735M) and Washington Capitals ($725M) round out the top 10.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the Vegas Golden Knights ($575M), who are the 12th most valuable team after making the Stanley Cup Final in their first season.
