Patrick Kane listed on Blackhawks’ training camp roster

Patrick Kane is officially on the Chicago Blackhawks‘ roster for this year’s training camp, the team announced Wednesday. Despite Kane currently being under investigation for allegations of sexual assault in western New York, he’s been listed on the team’s official roster for the camp, which is set to begin Friday at the University of Notre Dame.

Kane is currently the subject of a grand jury that’s expected to begin reviewing evidence later this month after a woman accused the star winger of raping her at his offseason home in August. The grand jury had been set to begin Sept. 8 but was postponed by the Erie Country District Attorney’s Office.

All of that apparently hasn’t stopped the team from welcoming him back to camp, however, despite those off-ice issues and the likely distractions they will bring to South Bend, Ind.

TSN’s Darren Dreger said Monday evening, Kane would be able to participate considering that no charges have been filed and there were no logistical holdups for him. While at least five teams have acquired about Kane’s availability amid allegations, the Hawks haven’t asked him about his no-trade clause.

Other notable names on the roster include defenseman Kyle Cumiskey, Jan Hejda, Michal Rozsival and Lubomir Visnovsky. Forwards Jake Dowell and Tomas Kopecky will also attend. All six players are unrestricted free agents on professional tryouts.
