With the Blackhawks bowing out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round for the first time since 2012, we have a much longer offseason to fill with content and fun than normal. One of the ways we have decided to that is to do this 30 day “challenge” in which we will present a topic for you, the SCH commenters and community, to answer. Every day for 30 days we will have a new topic to discuss in the comments.
Please remember that not everyone’s opinions are the same. We ask that you do not mock others for their opinions that are different than yours. Everyone’s varying opinions are good to help create discussion, and we can come to know each other a little better through this exercise.

Day 9: Favorite current Blackhawks player?
Adam: For many of you who answered Jonathan Toews for “favorite Blackhawks player ever” a few days ago, this may end up being a bit of a repeat question. However, even as someone who considers Best Captain as his favorite Hawk ever, I actually have a different player that I like more on the Blackhawks right now, and if you follow me on Twitter (which you totally should), you probably know who it is. I love Teuvo Teravainen. I will defend him until I am blue in the face. I love his style of play, I love seeing him flash his hockey brilliance, and I love seeing that Q is slowly gaining more and more trust in him. I really believe he has the potential to be a star in the NHL, and the fact that he could just be slowly working to that point is lots of fun as well. Teuvo is my special boy and I love him. Robert: While our favorite Slovakian Marian Hossa tugs at my heart strings so often with his two way play, I’ve always had a special place for Toews like many of you do. I didn’t have the luxury of growing up with the team in previous eras being a younger fan like Adam, so Toews was always the man for me. As a younger fan, how can you not gravitate towards a generational two way center who’s among the top ten or so players in the league? Toews sets the tone for the Hawks, seems to always come up huge in clutch moments, is the perfect captain, and even showed recently that he’s very savvy with his new social media presence. Toews face lives on forever. Some of the best moments and explosions off my couch as a fan have been gritty third period Toews goals. There’s a reason he’s my favorite jersey (I really shelled out).
