Stanley Cup Playoffs Weekend Thread, 4/21-4/23

Join us to discuss the first full weekend of Stanley Cup Playoffs action!

Here’s the slate of games over the next few days (all times CT):

Friday, April 21

Eastern Conference

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders, 6 p.m. (TBS)

Carolina leads this series 2-0 but we’ll see how the Hurricanes fare following the loss of our beloved departed son, Teuvo.

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers, 6:30 p.m. (TNT)

Game 2 of this series had some feistiness in the final minutes which could make the rest of the games more interesting. Patrice Bergeron remains sidelined, though, with the series currently tied at one game apiece.

Western Conference

Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild, 8:30 p.m. (TBS)

Another series that’s tied 1-1 while the discussion since Wednesday’s Game 2 has hovered around one team’s alleged “diving.” Also, Dallas won’t have Joe Pavelski around for Games 3 and 4 while in concussion protocol.

Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings, 9 p.m. (TNT)

The Oilers looked more like that late-season juggernaut in Game 2 after blowing a late lead in Game 1, leaving this series in a 1-1 deadlock as it shifts to California.

Saturday, April 22

Eastern Conference

Toronto Maple Leafs at Tampa Bay Lightning, 6 p.m. (TBS)

Tampa took Game 1 while Toronto took Game 2 but much of the focus centers on the health of the Lightning blue line: especially top guy Victor Hedman.

New Jersey Devils at New York Rangers, 7 p.m. (ABC)

The upstart Devils had a rude welcome to the postseason as the Rangers took both games in Jersey, with the latter of those two victories bolstered by a three-point night from Patrick Kane. A 3-0 series deficit would seem insurmountable – even moreso than the 2-0 deficit New Jersey already faces.

Western Conference

Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets, 3 p.m. (TBS)

Vegas looked a helluva lot better in Game 2 but still squandered Game 1, giving the Jets home-ice advantage for the rest of this series – for now.

Colorado Avalanche at Seattle Kraken, 9 p.m. (TBS)

Colorado’s championship mettle will be tested in this 1-1 series while Seattle prepares to host postseason hockey for the first time.

Sunday, April 23

Eastern Conference

Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders, 6 p.m. (TBS)

Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers, 6:30 p.m. (TNT)

Western Conference

Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild, 8:30 p.m. (TBS)

Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings, 9 p.m. (TNT)
