Watch: Blackhawks prospect Matt Tomkins wins ECHL goalie fight

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Matt Tomkins aired his grievances with his right hand Saturday night in a Festivus matchup against the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL.

With the Indy Fuel up 6-4 with less than 7 minutes remaining in the game, Cincinnati goaltender Anthony Peters, who relieved Jason Kasdorft, in net skated the length of the ice to challenge Indy’s Tomkins to a brawl.

Tomkins landed two punches with his right hand before Peters even attempted a cross. When Peters attempted to throw his first punch he lost his balance and Tomkins capitalized with a takedown and two more shots as Peters was down on the ice.

Both goalies were given major penalties, requiring Kasdorf to return for Cincinnati and Etienne Marcoux to come off the Fuel’s bench.

Indy won the game 7-4 behind Tommy Olczyk’s three shorthanded goals for his first career professional hat trick. Tomkins made 38 saves in Indy’s victory.
