Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival will miss 12-16 weeks after he underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured left ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
The surgery was performed by head team physician Dr. Michael Terry and Dr. Bradley Merk at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
“The procedure went very well,” Terry said in a statement released by the Blackhawks.
Rozsival, 36, suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly on his ankle Thursday during the second period of a 4-3, series-clinching Game 4 victory against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
Rozsival had one assist in 10 playoff games after recording 13 points in the regular season.
David Rundblad – who has never played in a postseason game – is expected to take Rozsival’s place in the lineup in the Western Conference Final against the Anaheim Ducks.
