2019 Blackhawks training camp: Philip Holm, Jacob Nilsson clear waivers, assigned to AHL

The Blackhawks assigned forward Jacob Nilsson and defenseman Philip Holm to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL on Monday after they cleared waivers.

Holm was signed in the offseason to a one year, two year contract ($700,000 NHL/$300,000 AHL). The Swedish left-defenseman has played in two preseason games, averaging 14:27-minutes of ice time at 5-on-5, and quarterbacked the first power play unit for 4:37-minutes in Tuesday’s game in Detroit. In two games, he had a goal and an assist, and a 54.5 Corsi-For rating.

Nilsson played in two preseason games in the bottom six, averaging 12:26-minutes of ice time and won 55.6-percent of his faceoffs (5-for-9). He will return to the IceHogs where he played 61 games last season and notched 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists).

Chicago’s training camp roster now stands at 30 players: 17 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders.
