2019 Stanley Cup playoffs: Western Conference Final Game 1 open thread

The Blues and Sharks will meet in the Western Conference Final for the second time in three years, starting Saturday with Game 1 at SAP Center in San Jose.

The Sharks won the 2016 matchup in six games to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history. But they fell in six to the Penguins, who hoisted the Cup on the Sharks’ home ice. The Blues last reached the final round in 1970 — which is remembered for Bobby Orr’s overtime winning goal for Boston.

San Jose has home-ice advantage this year against the Blues, and won two of three regular-season meetings, one of those in overtime.

The Sharks have needed seven games in the first two rounds against the Golden Knights and Avalanche to reach the conference final, while the Blues upset the Jets in six games then turned out the lights on the Stars’ playoff run in double overtime in Game 7.
