2019 Stanley Cup playoffs: April 16 open thread

There are four games on the schedule For Tuesday, including two elimination games.

The Blue Jackets look to win their first playoff series in franchise history when they host the Presidents’ Trophy winning Lightning. Columbus has shut out Tampa Bay’s three top scoring forwards — Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point — in the series. Kucherov will return for Game 4 after he was suspended for Game 3 for boarding Markus Nutivaara in Game 2. Tampa Bay, however, will be without defensemen Victor Hedman and Anton Stalman.

The Islanders are also trying to close out the Penguins, who haven’t lost a first-round series since 2015 against the New York Rangers and haven’t been swept since the 2013 Eastern Conference Final against the Bruins. The last playoff sweep for the Islanders was the 1983 Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers.

The Blues and Golden Knights both hold 2-1 series leads and host Game 4s.
