2020 NHL Draft results: Blackhawks select Louis Crevier with No. 188 pick

The Blackhawks traded a 2021 seventh-round pick to the Canadiens for the No. 188 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and selected right-handed defenseman Louis Crevier of the Chicoutimi in the QMJHL on Wednesday.

Crevier scored 10 goals and 21 points in 59 games this past season before the QMJHL season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 6-foot-8 and 216-pound Crevier has played two games this season, his third in the QMJHL.

From Elite Prospects:

At 6’8, Crevier can stand a few feet from you and still poke check the puck and prevent plays with ease. He’s an “unnatural” presence on the ice; players think they’ve escaped his grip, but they often haven’t moved far and quickly enough. He’s a decent skater for his size. He recognizes assignments and anticipates passes reasonably well in the defensive zone.
