2021 Blackhawks Top 25 Under 25: Graduates, departed players

The Blackhawks organization looks significantly different than it did the last time Second City Hockey unveiled its Top 25 Under 25 rankings, which came during the fall months of 2020 before the delayed start to the 2021 season.

Five players who were on that list are no longer with the team.

The biggest name is defenseman Adam Boqvist (No. 3), who was traded to the Blue Jackets as part of the deal that brought Seth Jones to Chicago.

Forward Pius Suter (No. 8) departed the organization via free agency, signing a two-year contract with the Red Wings. He also would’ve been ineligible for this list after turning 25 earlier this year.

Defenseman Lucas Carlsson (No. 14) was involved in one of several deals the Blackhawks made at the trade deadlin. He was dealt to the Panthers in a move deal that brought three new T25U25 candidates to the organization: forward Henrik Borgstrom, defenseman Riley Stillman and 2021 seventh-round draft pick Jalen Luypen.

Forward Matthew Highmore (No. 15) is another player who’d aged out of eligibility for the T25U25 list but also departed the organization at the trade deadline, dealt to Vancouver for Adam Gaudette — another new T25U25 candidate.

Center John Quenneville (No. 25) departed the organization in July as one of the players chosen by the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft. Quenneville would’ve been another graduate of the T25U25 rankings after turning 25 in April.
