Looks like Jason Williams’ groin problem is not going away, as the Blackhawks placed him on injured reserve today and called up Dave Bolland from Rockford to take his place on the roster. That’s a tough break because he has 19 points 20 games this year and has been one of the best Hawk forwards, but this groin strain has bothered him for a few weeks now. Hopefully he can get it healthy and get back in at some point in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks dropped a disappointing tilt last night with the Canucks, 3-2 at the United Center. Martin Havlat and Martin Lapointe were the goal scorers for the Hawks, but overall it was a weak offensive attack against a very good goalie in Roberto Luongo, and after an early 3rd period goal by Brendan Morrison of Vancouver, the ‘Nucks went into a “prevent defense” and the Hawks could find no way around it. I’d give the SCH Hawks Player Of The Game award to Lapointe, who was finally able to get his first goal of the year. Next up on the schedule is the Anaheim Ducks, a home match-up on Friday.
