Adam Boqvist, Kirby Dach highlight Blackhawks’ roster for 2019 NHL Prospect tournament

The Blackhawks’ last two first-round selections in center Kirby Dach and Adam Boqvist headline the team’s roster for the 21st annual NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan, the team announced Wednesday.

The tournament will be Sept. 6-10 at Centre Ice Arena. The other teams in the tournament include the Blues, Maple Leafs and Red Wings (Gordie Howe Division), and the Blue Jackets, Rangers, Stars and Wild (Ted Lindsay Division). Toronto replaces the Hurricanes, and will play in the tournament for the first time. The tournament will be streamed on FoxSportsGo.

Chicago’s prospect team includes 24 players: 14 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders. The team will be coached by the Rockford IceHogs coaching staff, led by head coach Derek King.

Forwards Luke Bignell, Shawn Element, Riley McKay, Isaac Nurse and goaltender Nico Daws are on the roster as free-agent invitees. McKay was a teammate of Dach’s last season with the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL, while Daws and Nurse were both OHL teammates with MacKenzie Entwistle with the Guelph Storm and Hamilton Bulldogs, respectively.
