So. Bryan Bickell’s contract really did not pan out. Following an excellent Stanley Cup win that saw him score 17 points over 23 games – top six scoring among Blackhawks forwards in that championship run – he was re-signed to a four-year, $16 million deal: a deal that has played havoc on the Blackhawks’ cap, ultimately forcing a bleeding of assets.
It’s really not a good legacy to go out on.
But that doesn’t mean Bickell’s time in Chicago was all bad. And her own farewell message his wife, Amanda, says that while they’ll miss Chicago, they aren’t done here yet:

The Bickell Foundation has been all about educating the public on pit bulls, and how they aren’t dangerous dogs – and using them to help abused children. It’s a two-for-one deal: not only are they helping innocent dogs that get a bad rep for, well, no reason, but they’re also helping kids who need it with these incredibly sweet animals.
The Foundation was started in Chicago, and it’s excellent to hear it’s not going away any time soon. If there’s anything to associate the Bickell name with here, that Stanley Cup should be one of the top things – after pit bulls.
