First of all – huge thanks to Rusty (rustolleum) for making/sending this in to us – brilliant.
We’ve all waited years for this and now the day is finally here. Sometime after 7:30 tonight the puck will drop on the Indian head logo at the center of the United Center ice and our Blackhawks will be not only back in the playoffs but favorites to win their first series in a hell of a long time.
It’s been way too long but it makes today even sweeter. As Hawks fans we all have a reason to be celebrate because even if the Hawks lose this game tonight or this series (god forbid) we have every reason to believe we’ll be right back here again next year with a better team and we’ll keep coming back for years to come. Time will tell if we’ll see Toews, Keith and all the other guys lift the cup in the Indian head sweater but either way it’s going to be an era I’m thrilled to be witnessing.
Everyone’s chimed in with their thoughts and we’ve been over all kinds of stats with probably more to come – there’s nothing left to do now but play the game. Its been in the works for a while but it starts tonight. We can’t believe it and we couldn’t be more excited.
I’m not going to get into a huge sappy article yet because there’s no need for it. I just wanted to express a belief probably shared by many – I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited for a game as I am for tonight. Win or lose… but hopefully win.
I’m heading out soon and don’t know if I’ll be able to get another post up before game time – so if nothing else shows up use this as your game thread. Right after the game the writers are all headed off for the radio station (lord help us) so it could be a while before we get any recap up so have fun tonight and most importantly, enjoy it.
