Artem Anisimov WILL PLAY vs. the Canadiens after all

UPDATE: It turns out Anisimov will play Thursday against the Canadiens after all! The Hawks announced that Anisimov is flying to Montreal and will suit up for the game despite being previously listed as out. Good news! Unfortunately the team also announced Erik Gustafsson would miss the game with a lower body injury as well. Gustafsson is day-to-day.

Artem Anisimov did not travel with the Chicago Blackhawks to Montreal and will miss Thursday’s game against the Canadiens, reports CSN Chicago’s Tracey Myers.

The Chicago center fell ill during a team meeting before the Blackhawks’ 3-2 victory over the Predators on Tuesday. The Hawks also play Friday in Toronto although Anisimov’s status for that game has yet to be reported.

Anisimov has centered the Hawks’ second line with Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin. He has 15 goals and nine assists this season. With Anisimov out, coach Joel Quenneville moved Teuvo Teravainen up from the third-line winger spot to second-line center for Tuesday’s game. Teravinen recorded one shot and was 30 percent on face offs during 18 minutes, 38 seconds of ice time.

Richard Panik made his Hawks debut at the third-line winger position with Phil Danault and Andrew Desjardins. Panik recorded no shots in 6:56 of ice time in Tuesday’s game.

Panik, a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2009, played 76 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, posting 11 goals and six assists. The 24-year-old was cut from training camp by new coach Mike Babock and recorded nine goals and 16 assists in 33 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies before being traded to Chicago for Jeremy Morin.

Panik was inserted into the lineup over Bryan Bickell, who missed his second straight game as a healthy scratch.
