Blackhawks’ Andrew Shaw is day-to-day with upper-body injury

Chicago Blackhawks‘ forward Andrew Shaw is day-to-day with an upper-body, coach Joel Quenneville said after Friday’s 5-4 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre.

Quenneville added that he doesn’t believe it’s serious.

Shaw’s injury appeared to have occurred at the 15 minute, 35 second mark of the second period. He was helped off the ice and did not return for the remainder of the game.

Shaw, 24, has 14 goals and 20 assists in 78 games this season. He wasn’t the only Hawk to suffer an injury in the second period. Trevor van Riemsdyk and Jonathan Toews also left for the locker room, but were able to return for the final period. Van Riemsdyk was checked into the boards and Toews was struck in his right ear by Niklas Hjalmarsson‘s clearing attempt.

The Hawks return to Chicago on Sunday when they host the Boston Bruins for a matinee.
