Blackhawks’ Chris Kunitz to play 1,000th NHL game vs. Devils

Chris Kunitz will play in his 1,000th career NHL game Thursday against the Devils at the United Center.

Kunitz has one goal, three assists and a team-high 52.09 Corsi For percentage in 33 games with the Blackhawks since signing a one-year contract as a free agent in July. The 39-year-old has been a healthy scratch for more than 20 games this season.

A four-time Stanley Cup winner, including three in nine seasons with the Penguins, Kunitz joined Chicago after a one-year stint with the Lightning.

Kunitz recorded 13 goals and 29 points during the 2017-18 season for Tampa Bay, adding just one assist in 17 playoff games.

A 15-year NHL veteran, Kunitz has scored 264 goals and 613 points in his career.

Sikura returns

Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton will have winger Dylan Sikura back in the lineup after the winger was recalled from the AHL on Monday.

Sikura scored four goals and eight assists in 14 AHL games after being sent down in January. His 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) lead all Rockford IceHogs skaters. He had no goals and three assists in 11 games during his first NHL stint this season.
