Goaltender Corey Crawford and forward Andrew Shaw will not play Tuesday when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Arizona Coyotes at the United Center, coach Joel Quenneville told reporters Sunday.
Quenneville added that he hopes both players will return before the playoffs begin. After the Arizona game, the Hawks have two games: Thursday at home vs. the St. Louis Blues and Saturday at Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
Crawford practiced drills with goaltending coach Jimmy Waite for a second straight day Sunday. He has been out since March 14 with an apparent head injury, though it is not known if the injury occurred during that game.
The 31-year-old netminder has posted a career-best 35-18-4 record with a 2.32 goals-against average and .926 save percentage in 57 games this season. His seven shutouts lead the league, while he is tied for third in wins and third in save percentage. Prior to the injury, the 31-year-old goaltender allowed 11 goals in his last three starts.
Shaw, who is listed as day-to-day, suffered an upper-body injury in Chicago’s 5-4 overtime win Friday in Winnipeg. It’s unclear when the injury occurred. The 24-year-old forward has 14 goals and 20 assists in 78 games this season.
