After staying out of the spotlight since his historic emergency relief effort, Scott Foster emerged Wednesday at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.
Foster, a 36-year-old accountant for Golub Capital, stopped all seven shots he faced in 14 minutes of ice time in the third period for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 6-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on March 30 at the United Center. He was pushed into action when Collin Delia went down with an injury. Delia was filling in for Anton Forsberg, who was scheduled to start but was injured hours before the game.
Foster helped Chicago native actor Jim Belushi present the Vezina Trophy, given annually to the league’s top goaltender.
During the presentation, Foster joked he needed to speed up giving out the award because he need to get back to work.

Nashville’s Pekka Rinne won the award for the first time after being a finalist three times before. The 35-year-old Finnish netminder beat out Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck and Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Rinne went 42-13-4 with eight shutouts, a 2.31 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage for the Predators.
