Morning Bag Skate: Kimmo Timonen confirms retirement plans

Well the long break is finally over as the Blackhawks take on the Oilers on Friday night. Apparently we’re getting Teuvo Teravainen in the press box, which I’m not a fan of, but at a certain point it’s like ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Here’s the news:

**Kimmo Timonen confirmed that he has no plans to play beyond this season. (SCH)

**Want to be the Panthers‘ third-string goaltender? Here’s your chance, if you’re in Florida. (Panthers)

**Even though the Las Vegas season ticket drive wasn’t exactly a rousing success, the NHL seems to be moving forward with plans for a franchise. I don’t know enough about the league’s business to slam this too much, but I’m not sure why you’d want to shoehorn a franchise into Nevada if the interest isn’t quite there. (Sportsnet)

**Tyler Seguin is nearing his return from a knee injury, but at this point the Stars‘ season is pretty much done. (NHL.com)

**Unfortunately for Dallas, it’s also losing defenseman Trevor Daley for 2-4 weeks due to injury. (PHT)

**The city of Ottawa gave former Senators star Daniel Alfredsson the key to the city. Gonna be honest, I’m 23 years old and don’t really understand what any of that entails. (Sportsnet)

**Who’s the best emergency backup goalie in the NHL? (Puck Daddy)

**A Coyotes co-owner thinks the team’s current “reset” could turn it into a “real championship team” within 2-3 years. That might be a little quick for title contention, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Arizona is looking pretty dangerous by 2018. (Nichols on Hockey)

**Connor McDavid is just ridiculous. (PHT)
