Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane records 2nd career 100-point season

Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane assisted on Jonathan Toews’ goal in the first period against the Canucks on Monday at the United Center to reach the 100-point mark this season.

It’s the second time he has scored 100 points in a season during his NHL career. He set a career high with 106 points during the 2015-16 season, when he won the Hart Trophy as the league MVP and Art Ross Trophy as the league’s top scorer.

Kane is the third player in Blackhawks franchise history to have at least two 100-point seasons, joining Jeremy Roenick and Denis Savard. Roenick had three consecutive 100-point campaigns from 1991-94, while Savard had five in the 1980s (1981-83, 84-86, 87-88). Bobby Hull (1968-69) and Steve Larmer (1990-91) each had one 100-point season for Chicago.

Kane is the third player this season to score 100 points, joining Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov and Edmonton’s Connor McDavid. The Lightning winger leads the league with 117 points. Kucherov accomplished the feat in his 62nd game, becoming the quickest to reach the century mark since Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux did it in 61 games during the 1996-97 season.
