Watch this video of the Blackhawks playing ‘Sesame Street’ characters in 1970

The Chicago Blackhawks have played a lot of incredible teams over the decades, from the “Punch Line” Habs to the Gretzky-led Oilers. Nothing could’ve prepared them for their opponent in this 1970 video posted by the Chicago Film Archives, however.

Forget the challenge of playing against 220-pound men who don’t care if their teeth go flying out of their faces — how about taking on Big Bird, the Cookie Monster and the rest of the Sesame Street crew? That’s what the Hawks did in this old video making the rounds, and it’s as delightful as you’d expect.

Look at this passion from Big Bird. He’s like Andrew Shaw but eight feet tall and covered in yellow feathers:

I know there’s draft this weekend and everything, but I’m pretty sure we’ve already reached peak awesomeness with this. Pardon me if I spend the rest of the day figuring out how to recreate this magic.
