Chicago Blackhawks prospects John Hayden, Anthony Louis, Matheson Iacopelli and Dylan Sikura have been named to the 2017 Hobey Baker fan ballot Monday.
The Hobey Baker Award is an annual award given to the top men’s player since 1981. It’s named for World Ward I veteran Hobey Baker, who played at Princeton. Baker was the lone American among the nine members inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 1945.
Both Hayden (third-round) and Louis (sixth-round) were selected in the 2013 draft while Iacopelli (third-round) and Sikura (sixth-round) were picked up the next year.
Hayden, 21, has 16 goals and 25 points in 21 games in his senior season for Yale. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound forward has been instrumental to the Bulldogs’ power play and has indicated he plans to sign with Chicago next summer.
Louis, 21, has seen a jump in production in his senior season at Miami (Ohio). Last season, he recorded 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 36 games and in just 26 games this season he has 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) for the RedHawks.
Sikura, a 21-year-old junior at Northeastern, has had a breakout season with a career-high 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists) in 25 games. He tallied just 28 points in 39 games last season.
Iacopelli, 22, has excelled in his sophomore season at Western Michigan with 22 points (15 goals, 7 assists) in 24 games. He scored just one goal and seven points in 27 games in his freshman campaign.
