Blackhawks reassign Vincent Hinostroza to AHL Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned forward Vincent Hinostroza to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, the team announced Monday.

Hinostroza, 21, registered two shots on goal in three games with the Hawks since his February call up. The Bartlett, Ill. native has 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) in 41 games with Rockford this season.

By sending Hinostroza down a roster spot is now available for Marian Hossa to return from injured reserve. Hossa suffered a lower-body injury to his left side Feb. 13 after a hip check by Anaheim Ducks‘ Hampus Lindholm. Hossa left the game in the second period and did not return after the check. He laid on the ice before needing assistance from teammates and team medical staff to head to the locker room.

The 37-year-old forward was eligible to return for the outdoor game Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium against the Wild, but the Hawks opted to give him extra rest. He has 10 goals and 18 assists in 53 games this season.
