The Milwaukee Admirals scored two goals in each of the first two periods en route to a 5-2 victory to end the Rockford IceHogs’ winning streak at four games Saturday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
Laurent Dauphin, a former IceHog, and Josh Wilkins both had two assists for Milwaukee (19-4-1-2), which improved to 10-1 in its last 11 games. Lukas Craggas scored his first AHL goal, and Steven Santini, Tommy Novak, Mathieu Olivier and Anthony Richard also tallied goals. Troy Grosenick made 33 saves.
Brandon Hagel and Philipp Kurashev scored for Rockford (13-9-0-1). Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves in his first start since he re-assigned to the AHL following an emergency call up.
Craggas tapped in a loose puck below the goal line for a 1-0 Milwaukee lead at 4:08. Jeremy Davies skated around rookie Mathew Thompson down the left wall and behind the net then fired a wrist shot on net that Craggas grabbed and banked it off Lankinen’s left leg into the net.
Hagel raced in down the right side and sent a shot by Grosenick’s glove to tie it 1-1 at 5:59. Hagel leads all Rockford rookies with seven goals and 12 points.
Santini scored his first goal as an Admiral with a one-timer from the right circle past a screened Lankinen to make it 2-1 with one minute remaining in the first.
Novak made it 3-1 at 3:04 of the second period with a wrist shot from the left circle. Oliver tapped in Tanner Jeannot’s wraparound at the far post for a 4-1 lead at 16:26. Richard finished a 2-on-1 with Dauphin at 3:18 of the third period to make it 5-1.
Kurashev scored his first goal in eight games with a one timer from the bottom of the right circle at 16:07 of the third period for the 5-2 final. He has a point in four of his last five games (one goal, three assists).
Rockford was 0-for-2 on the power play and 0-for-7 on the man advantage in its last two games.
