Philipp Kurashev and John Quenneville each had three points to propel the Rockford IceHogs to a 4-2 win against the Toronto Marlies at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Sunday in Toronto.
Quenneville scored two goals and an assist, and Kurashev had a goal and two assists for Rockford (15-10-0-1), which improved to 6-2 in its past eight games. Nick Moutrey scored an empty-net goal, and Kevin Lankinen made 11 saves for his second win in a row.
Richard Clune and Adam Brooks scored for Toronto (17-7-2-1), which has lost three straight in regulation. Kasimir Kaskisuo made 20 saves in his two straight loss after winning four straight starts.
Quenneville put the IceHogs up 1-0 at 5:41 of the first period with a blast from the right face-off circle after a spinning backhand feed from Philip Holm.
Richard Clune tied it 1-1 at 14:14 with a shot past a diving Lankinen. Jordan Schmaltz needled a pass by three IceHogs defenders to the front of the net for Clune, who spun to his right and lifted the shot into the net.
Kurashev scored his fourth goal of the season on a breakaway at 16:30 for a 2-1 lead. Nicolas Beaudin sent a long pass that banked off MacKenzie Entwistle to Kurashev, who lifted backhand shot past Kaskisuo.
Brooks slipped behind Jacob Nilsson to the slot and beat Lankinen to tie it 2-2 at 1:18 of the second period.
Anton Wedin sent a cross-ice pass to Quenneville, who fired a wrist shot from the left face-off circle on the power play for a 3-2 lead at 7:56.
Moutrey added an empty-net goal with 45 seconds remaining for the 4-2 final.

The IceHogs have killed off 18 straight penalties during their past five games. … Kurashev has five points (two goals, three assists) in his past four games, and his 13 points (four goals, nine assists) are now tied with Brandon Hagel (eight goals, five assists) for the team’s rookie lead in scoring in one less game. … Holm’s assist ended his five-game streak without a point.
