Blackhawks’ Teuvo Teravainen likely out ‘a couple games’ with upper-body injury

Chicago Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen could be out “a couple games” after suffering an upper-body in Wednesday’s 4-3 overtime win over the Oilers, coach Joel Quenneville told reporters after Thursday’s optional skate.

The 21-year-old left in the second period Wednesday night and did not return. Teravainen registered just 5:33 of ice time in the game. Quenneville added there’s no threat to Teravainen being placed on long term injured reserve. Teravainen has scored four goals and five assists in 18 games this season, while bouncing between winger and center.

Andrew Desjardins, who was a healthy scratch the past three games, is the likely candidate to replace the 2012 first-round draft pick in the lineup. Desjardins, 29, is scoreless through 13 games with two assists this season.

Scott Darling will also get the start in net Friday against the Calgary Flames. He posted 25 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Flames on Sunday at United Center.
