With each Blackhawks game he plays in, Dominik Kahun inches closer to making NHL history.
The first-year winger is on pace to become the first player since the Sabres’ Craig Ramsay (1973-74) to not commit a penalty in a season while playing in every game, and the first to do so in an 82-game season. Ramsay accomplished the feat during a 78-game schedule.
Kahun did have some company in his quest to achieve the record until Thursday, when Avalanche defenseman Sam Girard committed his first penalty this season.
The 23-year-old Kahun is also closing in on the franchise record for games played to start a season without committing a penalty. Gerry Melnyk holds the mark at 62 games in 1962.
