Blackhawks prospects Alexis Gravel and Jake Ryczek and the Halifax Mooseheads defeated Nicolas Beaudin and the Drummondville Voltigeurs 2-1 in overtime in Game 6 of a QMJHL semifinal series Sunday to advance to the President’s Cup Final.
The Mooseheads will play the top-seeded Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the final. The Huskies last won the QMJHL in 2016, while Halifax’s last victory came in 2013 when they also took home the Memorial Cup.
Gravel, a 2018 sixth-round pick, is 12-4 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in the playoffs. Ryczek, a 2016 seventh-rounder, has 11 assists in the postseason.
Gravel and Ryczek are both unsigned.
Beaudin had two goals and six assists in 15 playoff games. The left-handed defenseman logged seven goals and 56 points in 53 regular-season games despite missing time with a broken wrist. The 2018 first-rounder signed an entry-level contract with the Blackhawks in November and is expected to play for the team’s AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, next season.
