Brent Seabrook, Jonathan Toews will travel on Blackhawks’ 3-game road trip

The Chicago Blackhawks received good news Monday as Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews will both travel for the team’s three-game road trip, which starts Tuesday against the New York Rangers.

After Tuesday’s game, the Hawks play Thursday at the New York Islanders then  head back to the Midwest to face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday on the road. The Hawks cap off the week Sunday at home against the San Jose Sharks.

Seabrook has missed the last two games after suffering an apparent head injury Dec. 6. Toews’ absence has been more prevalent, missing nine consecutive games due to a back injury he sustained Nov. 23 in San Jose. Both players practiced Sunday.

“Sometimes you feel good and all of a sudden you do some little movements here or there that seem to just fire everything up. So yeah, I guess in that sense it is frustrating,” Toews told CSN Chicago. “It is unique in that way but as they say it is what it is and you have to deal with it anyway you can, and just be as good as you can when you’re ready to come back.”

The Blackhawks have managed to go 5-2-2 without Toews due to a step up in production from Marcus Kruger and others.
