The Chicago Blackhawks’ first-round pick from the 2021 NHL Draft is officially part of the organization after Nolan Allan signed his entry-level contract on Thursday.
It’s a three-year deal worth $870,000 annually.

The Blackhawks selected Allan with the final pick of the first round (32nd overall) which was part of the massive trade that sent Adam Boqvist to the Columbus Blue Jackets and brought Seth Jones to Chicago. Allan was part of Team Canada’s gold medal win during the 2021 U18 World Juniors, tallying a goal and in assist in seven games.
His 2020-21 hockey season was spent with the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL, where Allan played in 16 regular-season games with one goal and one assist. It was a pandemic-shortened season, though. In ‘19-20, Allan played in 58 games for the Raiders with two goals and six assists.
Allan will be one of 24 Blackhawks prospects who head to Minnesota this weekend for the 2021 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. Here is the full lineup, per the Blackhawks website:

Derek King says they’re going to start Lukas Reichel off at center in the rookie showcase against the Wild this weekend. Reichel saw a lot of time at center last season in Germany.
