Anthony Duclair to wear No. 91 for Blackhawks

Newly-acquired forward Anthony Duclair will wear No. 91 for the Chicago Blackhawks, according to the team’s website.

Chicago landed Duclair in a four-player deal Wednesday with the Arizona Coyotes. The Hawks shipped forwards Richard Panik and Laurent Dauphin to Arizona for Duclair and defenseman Adam Clendening.

The 22-year-old Duclair had 15 points in 33 games with the Coyotes this season. He’s two years removed from a 20-goal, 24-assist season for Arizona. The New York Rangers drafted him 80th overall in 2013.

Duclair previously worn No. 10 with the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL, Arizona and internationally for Hockey Canada. He also skated with No. 63 for New York. The No. 10 is already taken by Patrick Sharp in Chicago, while No. 63 has never been used in franchise history.

Duclair will be only the second player in Hawks history to wear No. 91. Brad Richards was the first as his usual No. 19 was already taken by Chicago captain Jonathan Toews. Richards scored 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) in 99 games for the Hawks, including 23 playoff games en route to the 2015 Stanley Cup championship.

Richards isn’t the only Chicago athlete to win a title while wearing No. 91. Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman led the NBA in rebounds per game from 1995-98 as he won three consecutive championships with the Chicago Bulls.
