Notes
- The first period was one of the best 20 minutes for the Blackhawks’ in quite some time. While it could be argued that the Hurricanes played with their food a bit early on, it’s still nice to see the kids play some quality hockey.
- Unfortunately, the Hawks’ quality of play would drop off as Carolina scored four unanswered goals. The fourth goal was ultimately the game winner for the Canes. Even with nothing to play for, between struggles with possession and defensive blunders, this game was still more of the same for Chicago.
- Alex DeBrincat is the truth. DeBrincat finished the game with two goals and came close to a third.
- Teuvo Teravainen led the Hurricanes in expected goals for with 2.69 across all strengths, along with a 60.98 Corsi-for percentage. Pain.
- With the Hawks out of the playoff race and at the tail end of the season, there’s not too much else to dive into. Since this is my final recap of the season, I want to thank both the staff, as well as all of the Hawks faithful here at SCH for welcoming me aboard this year. While this was definitely a memorable season, I’m hopeful that going forward, we will be able to celebrate more highs and suffer fewer lows. Until next time, Let’s Go Hawks./
