Corey Crawford is having arguably the best season of his career. On a well-deserved night off Saturday, he was rewarded for it.
Crawford, 30, won his second William M. Jennings Trophy, sharing the honor with Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price. The award is given annually to the goaltender(s) who play in a minimum 25 games for the team allowing the fewest goals. The Blackhawks and Canadiens each allowed a league-low 189 goals this season.
Crawford finished the regular-season with a 32-20-5 record, a 2.27 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 57 games.
This is the first time goaltenders on different teams have shared the award since 2002-03, when Martin Broduer for the New Jersey Devils and Roman Cechmanek and Robert Esche for the Philadelphia Flyers accomplished the feat.
Crawford won his first Jennings Trophy for his 2012-13 season, when the Blackhawks went on to claim their second Stanley Cup in four seasons. Crawford shared the honor that season with teammate Ray Emery.
Eddie Belfour also won the award twice, winning in the 1990-91 (211 goals) and 1994-95 (115 goals) seasons.
