Blackhawks place Dylan Strome in concussion protocol

The Blackhawks placed forward Dylan Strome in concussion protocol prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Stars.

Strome has five goals and 17 points in 23 games in his first full season with the Blackhawks after being acquired in November 2018 from the Coyotes. It’s unknown when the 22-year-old forward suffered a concussion.

Strome is the second Blackhawks player to be placed in concussion protocol this season. Drake Caggiula suffered his second concussion in less than a year Nov. 10 against Toronto, and was placed on injured reserve three days ago.

With Strome out, forward Matthew Highmore will play in his first NHL game since March 2018. Highmore will draw in on the fourth line at right wing with Zack Smith and Ryan Carpenter. Rookie Kirby Dach moves up to the second line alongside Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane.
