Blackhawks prospect Alexis Gravel to miss 2-3 weeks with lower-body injury

Blackhawks prospect Alexis Gravel will miss 2-3 weeks for the Halifax Mooseheads with a lower-body injury, the QMJHL team announced Wednesday.

Gravel is 0-2 with a 5.82 goals-against average and .789 save percentage this season. He has allowed four goals in each of his two starts and was pulled after only seeing 13 shots in his second outing. He posted a 2.49 GAA and .913 save percentage last season as he helped the Mooseheads reach the QMJHL President’s and Memorial Cup finals.

If Gravel misses a full three weeks, he’ll be out nine games for Halifax and return Oct. 18.

The 2018 sixth-round pick was 2-0 at the NHL Prospect tournament this summer in Traverse City, Michigan, and led all goaltenders with a 2.49 GAA and .915 save percentage.

Gravel is a candidate to be one of Canada’s goaltenders for the World Junior Championship along with Edmonton’s Olivier Rodrigue and Minnesota’s Hunter Jones.
